This full-tuition scholarship supports students from any nationality or academic background who wish to undertake the 2-year Master of International Affairs (MIA) program in Berlin, Germany.

Scholarship Overview

The Human Rights Scholarship provides comprehensive support for two full-time MIA candidates at the Hertie School, covering tuition fees of €37,500 for the entire duration of the program. This opportunity is particularly relevant for students focused on addressing complex global issues, such as mass migration, climate crises, the rise of authoritarianism, and the impacts of digitalization on human rights.

Who Should Apply?

The scholarship is open to students from all academic fields who are drawn to the challenge of protecting human rights on an international scale. Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in human rights issues and their intersection with policy and governance.

Eligibility and Requirements

  1. Undergraduate Degree: Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  2. Interest in Human Rights: A dedicated personal statement is required to highlight the applicant’s commitment to human rights and aspirations within the MIA program.
  3. Application Process:
    • Apply to the MIA program by either the Early Bird deadline (December 1) or Priority Deadlines (non-EU/EEA: January 15, EU/EEA: February 15).
    • After receiving an admission offer, candidates can submit a funding application for the Human Rights Scholarship, including a one-page statement on their human rights interests.
    • Shortlisted candidates will have a faculty interview.
